Emma’s Building Spring Term 2018
After a lovely Christmas break we are all excited about the challenges a new school term brings.
During literacy and numeracy activities children will work in small groups, along with 1:1 sessions in order to give the best environment to enhance their learning. We will incorporate any Individual Support Plans into the children’s learning.
In Literacy this term we will be focusing on phonics, spelling and handwriting. In Numeracy we will continue to focus on recognising numbers and some children will be continuing with calculation work. All work will be differentiated to ensure children learn at a level they are comfortable with as well as being challenging.
In Science our garden areas will need lots of work. We will need to tidy up the flower beds and plant seeds in the raised beds in the Dig for Victory and Friendship gardens.
In ICT, the term will begin with programming the Blue Bots to move forward, right and left to reach a specific destination. Some children will then move to using the programme Logo on the computer to create algorithms.
Every Monday we will be cooking with an exciting range of dishes incorporating different skills, tastes and textures planned.
Children in Year three and four will be taking part in a production with their class peers this term. They will be learning a variety of songs and words for this production. Children in Reception will continue to join their class peers on Tuesday afternoon to benefit from the forest school activities.
